Keeping your pet healthy starts with being educated & prepared.
By having a cabinet of go-to supplements for when their need arises, it will set you and your pet up for success.
I've outlined my pet parent essentials that I keep on hand and regularly recommend to other pet parents for when health issues come up.
Pet Supplements to Maintain Optimal Health & Well-being
Here is the list of the supplements I keep in Archie's cabinet and ones I think you should have on hand as well:
For Gut Health:
Amber Naturalz Vibactra Plus
I love this product because it has immune supporting herbs that act as a 'natural antibiotic' to rid the bad while still keeping the good. Unlike traditional antibiotics from the vet that rid both the bad AND the good bacteria in the gut. By using this you are setting your pet up for success because it won't lead to a weakened immune system that can be leaving them more susceptible to other health problems and sicknesses, while also addressing the root cause.
Dr. Mercola Bark & Whiskers Complete Probiotics or Herbsmith Microflora are both high-quality probiotic & digestive enzyme that I like to use. There are other brands that I rotate in as well (Aunt Jeni's Digestive Aid, Wholistic Pet Organics, Adored Beast, etc.). Rotation is key because each brand uses a different blend of probiotic strains, so by using different ones you create a more well-rounded microbiome.
100% Pure Pumpkin in super convenient pouches. Pumpkin is a great source of fiber that can be used for loose stools and constipation. It works well for easing your pet through a new food transition too!
For Pest Prevention:
I will put the links here, but for a full detailed list and my personal pest protocol you can check out this blog post and my Mini Course on Natural Flea & Tick Prevention HERE. Earth Animal Herbal Drops - added directly to morning and evening meals. This product also comes in a powder form.
Paws & Claws Cedar Spray I spray 1-2x daily before my dog goes outside for the day and before walks. I also use around doorways/floorboards and around the outside of the house perimeter. It repels and also kills all life stages of fleas.
Mad About Organics Topical - I use once a week or more if going on a hike where there are lots of trees, tall grasses, etc.
Mosquito Barrier spray for in the yard. Repels mosquitos, fleas, ticks, and other pests.
Amber Naturalz HWF - Clean Heart I have made the personal decision to prevent heartworm disease with this product. I have heard of many success stories in not only preventing but also aiding in the healing of heartworm disease in dogs with this product.
For Liver Detox:
Amber Naturalz Life Cell Support - I use this for a liver detox. Great for after vaccinations.* If you choose to use chemical flea & tick treatments and heartworm prevention, this product is a good option to detox the body too.
*I only do the 3 years rabies and titers after getting a select few of his puppy vaccines - if you're interested in learning more about that, read it HERE.
For Dental Health:
Archie's teeth and overall dental health are really good. He has no tartar or plaque at all and his teeth are pearly white! He eats a raw diet and gets daily chews. I do keep Mad About Organics Water Additive on hand and add it to his water occasionally. For other options and in depth discussion on Dental Health, you can read my blog post HERE.
For Respiratory Health:
Archie has always had reverse sneezes and when spring comes around the pollen makes them worse. I keep the Numo Care on hand and start it up at the first signs of pollen and it really helps reduce the irritation and frequency of the reverse sneezing.
Amber Naturalz Numo Care (for dogs) Amber Naturalz Numo C (for cats)
For Urinary Tract & Kidney Health:
Archie hasn't had any UTI or infection, but I've had dogs and cats growing up that have and I know how important it is to treat to reduce the chance of it reaching the kidneys. I use them together so that the issue is taken care of throughout the entire urinary tract & kidneys.
Amber Naturalz Kidney Rejuvenator Other Miscellaneous Must Haves:
Liquid Health Spot Shot - this is an antibacterial spray that helps on cuts, scratches, and stings. It is non-stinging (I've used it on myself a time or two) and will help the area heal faster and reduce risk of infection. It also helps with hot spots if you're pet gets those from severe itching.
If your pet gets hot spots regularly it is time for some supplements and probably a diet change. I work with pet parents frequently on these issues and would love to help. You can learn more about my Coaching Program HERE.
Bach's Rescue Remedy for Pets - This is a flower essence blend and is super gentle. Although Archie isn't a super anxious dog normally, he can get a little separation anxiety at times.
I give him this to help calm and relax him. I've used it after he was stung by a wasp (twice) to ease some of the anxiety and his trauma too.
I also give it to some of the dogs that I board or do doggy daycare for in my home if they seem a little stressed. It takes the edge off without it being a medication and making them loopy.
I keep a few Freeze Dried and Air Dried options in case I forget to thaw out Archie's food or if we are travelling. They make it super convenient, you just add water.
Just some options are Stella & Chewy's Freeze Dried and Real Dog Box Ancestral Meatballs - can be fed as full and balanced meal or as a nutritious snack.
Choosing the Right Treats & Chews to Keep Your Pet Happy & Healthy
The best chews and treats for dogs are those without fillers, and those without artificial colors, flavorings, or preservatives.
I won't list them all out here, but here are some of Archie's favorites: Bully Sticks, anything from Real Dog Box.
All of the brands and products that I have listed I personally use on my pets and aones that I trust completely. ducts so there is still loads of nutrients still in them and they have treat options (also can be used as nutrient boosting are food toppers or in DIY meals) and chews for all kinds of chewers. I also wanted to mention,
you probably have noticed that I use a lot of products in the brand Amber Naturalz. There is a reason for that.
